Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon that causes people to perceive ambiguous stimuli as meaningful visual objects. For example, people may see faces in landscapes, buildings, and furniture. For example, a house with a pattern that resembles a face can trigger an emotional response.
I could see this working as well if you needed a quick demo lesson for a job interview. You could come with 4 swatches of color on cards, hand them out to students, and let them reveal what they see using pens to tease out the images.
Here are some helpful examples you can show to get your students primed for this short visual exercise. I encourage students to turn their paper in many directions and stare at the color blotches. Images will eventually emerge. If they get stuck, tell them to work with a peer partner to reveal images. Looking at the negative spaces can help as well.
