Details: Splashing paint, scribbling, and making abstract shapes is considered by some as an exploration in "Abstract Art" for their students. What if you could go further, show how art elements can be used to convey specific feelings, personal experiences, and emotions based on international symbols, color theory, and historical movements?  This program will show you how to take these explorations to the next level in a way that students will innately understand and recall as they explain their artistic choices of color and shape in their expressive works of art. Splashing paint may be fun, but this is far more. We will cover working in slight abstraction to total abstract expressionism (non-objective art) in a way even kinder-kids can fully grasp!

Additionally, this approach allows students dealing with issues of trauma to work through their experiences in a safe way that codes their information visually. When partnering with a therapist, this approach can provide deep healing for all involved.

Taught by Eric Gibbons, leader of professional development on the State and National level, author of over 40 books in art education, and artist with work in the Obama White House Collection.
